Q. What is Puncture Proof Sealant? A. Puncture Proof Sealant is a thixotropic aqueous Glycol tyre sealant. Once installed, it provides continuous protection against air loss for the full legal life of the tyre.
Q. How does it seal a wound in the tread of the tyre? A. Puncture Proof Sealant lays down a thin protective coating between the tyre and the internal air. When an object penetrates the tread area, the internal air pressure forces the sealant instantly into the puncture wound to create a seal.
Q. How does it prevent rim/bead leaks? A. Rotational forces spread the product evenly, coating the entire inside of the tyre—including the bead and rim area. Any potential air-loss points are instantly sealed as the sealant is forced into the gaps by air pressure.
Q. Does a penetrating object need to be removed? A. Always. Even though Puncture Proof Sealant seals around the object, if left in the tyre, the object will shift as the tyre rotates. This constant movement will eventually enlarge the wound until air loss occurs.
Q. Must a tyre be driven after a penetrating object is removed? A. Yes. While the sealant has covered the wound area, the tyre must be run to “snap open” the wound and allow the Puncture Proof Sealant to fully enter and seat itself. Driving the vehicle immediately after removal is essential.
Q. Will it seal a puncture in the sidewall? A. No. While it may provide a temporary seal, the constant flexing of the sidewall means a permanent plug cannot be guaranteed. For safety reasons, we do not claim to provide permanent sidewall repairs.
Q. Will it create a hard plug in the tread? A. No. The plug is designed to remain flexible to conform to the natural flexing of the tyre. A hard, brittle plug would eventually leak.
Q. Does Puncture Proof Sealant react chemically with the rubber? A. No. It is chemically inert and does not react with tyre components or affect the manufacturer’s warranty.
Q. Will it rust the rim? A. No. Puncture Proof Sealant contains specialized anti-corrosive agents to prevent rim corrosion. It even helps inhibit existing corrosion on the wheel prior to installation.
Q. Is it toxic or flammable? A. No. It is non-toxic, non-hazardous, and non-flammable. It complies with all TSCA (Toxic Substance Control Authority) requirements and does not require EPA environmental protection classification.
Q. Is it bio-degradable? A. Yes. It is fully bio-degradable and presents no disposal problems. It flushes out easily with water, leaving no residual stickiness inside the tyre.
Q. Does it run to the bottom of the tyre when the vehicle is parked? A. No. Puncture Proof Sealant contains special adhesives that allow it to adhere to the inner surface of the tyre. While a small residual amount (approx. 25%) remains fluid to disperse while in motion, the protective coating stays in place.
Q. Will it dry out over time? A. No. Because a tyre is an airtight container, no evaporation can occur. The shelf life of the product in its original container is also indefinite, provided it remains sealed.
Q. Can it be used in tube tyres? A. Yes. However, we cannot guarantee 100% success due to the unpredictable quality and thinness of various inner tubes.
Q. Can it be installed in used tyres? A. Yes, it performs effectively in both new and used pneumatic tyres.
Q. Do you have specialist pumps? A. Yes. Puncture Proof Sealant is the only company in the industry to develop a fully automated pump capable of pumping against 200 psi at a rate of 5 litres per minute. We also offer a manual hand pump for pressures up to 60 psi.
Q. How much is ejected with a full stroke of the manual pump? A. 100 millilitres.
Q. What is the current production capacity? A. Our factory produces 80,000 litres per day to meet global demand.
Q. Are you covered by insurance? A. Yes. We are fully covered by a €6.25m Product Liability Insurance policy (Lloyd’s Policy). This is a critical requirement for public organizations like the Police, Ambulance services, and major transport fleets.
Q. What makes Puncture Proof Sealant different from aerosol “fix-it” cans? A. Aerosols are temporary, emergency “get you home” measures applied after a flat occurs, often requiring the tyre to be replaced afterward. Puncture Proof Sealant is a pre-puncture preventative that lasts the life of the tyre. Unlike inferior glycol-free products, it will not congeal or cause wheel balancing issues.
